Over on the Cardinals’ side, they played the Chicago White Sox in their weekend series. St. Louis split the first two games of that set, winning 3-0 Friday before a 6-5 loss in game two. In the Sunday rubber match the Cardinals posted four team hits in a 5-1 loss. Matthew Liberatore lasted 3.2 innings in the starting role with three hits, one earned and five strikeouts.

It’ll be Kyle Gibson in the starting pitcher role for the Cardinals on Monday. This year in six starts Gibson is 2-2 with a 3.79 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 38.0 innings. Gibson is 106-102 with a 4.53 ERA in 306 career games (300 starts). The Cardinals will take on the Brewers following this series.

New York Mets vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll stay with the Cardinals. Gibson is pitching well right now. He’s 1-0 in his last three starts with just three earned in the last 19.0 innings. Gibson has given up 12 hits and eight walks during that time. As for Manaea, he’s done pretty well himself with three earned runs in his last three starts over 14.2 innings of work.

On Sunday in their finale versus the Sox, the Cardinals couldn’t get much going at the plate on four team hits. Wilson Contreras’ solo homer was just about the only sign of offensive life. Defensively St. Louis really only had one bad inning, though. I think the Cards have a good shot at bouncing back on Monday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -128
