Detroit Tigers Betting Preview
The Tigers managed a low-scoring defensive win in the Thursday opener of this set. Detroit scored their lone run in the third inning (courtesy of Andy Ibanez) and held on for the 1-0 victory. Spencer Torkelson added a pair of hits, and starter Tarik Skubal notched 6.0 clean frames with three hits and six Ks.
As starter for the Saturday matchup, the Tigers will go with Kenta Maeda. Last year Maeda posted a 6-8 record with a 4.23 ERA in 21 games (20 starts) alongside 117 Ks in 104.1 innings. Maeda has a career record of 65-49 with a 3.92 ERA in 190 games (155 starts). The Tigers will play against the Mets in the series after this one.
Chicago White Sox Betting Preview
Over on the White Sox’ side, they couldn’t get much offense going in the Thursday opener. Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez and Andrew Vaughn each had one hit, and the rest of the batters went a combined 0-20. Garrett Crochet pitched 6.0 innings with just one earned on five hits with eight Ks.
It’ll be Michael Soroka in the starting pitcher role for the White Sox on Saturday. Over seven games (six starts) last year Soroka posted a 2-2 record with a 6.40 ERA and 29 Ks in 32.1 innings. Soroka has a 17-8 career record with a 3.32 ERA in 44 games (43 starts). Following this series, the White Sox will meet the Braves.

Tigers vs White Sox Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Tigers here. Detroit got a very nice pitching performance in their opener on Thursday, with the pen contributing 3.0 innings, no hits, no walks and five Ks in the shutout. Five different Tigers players had at least one hit, however the team could only draw one walk.
As for the White Sox, they obviously need to get the bats going in game two. Chicago will likely get a reasonable outing from Soroka but the offense is going to need to help out. I like another close contest here, with the Tigers eking out a victory.
