The Line: Betting Odds: PFW Mastodons -10 — Over/Under:
The Robert Morris Colonials and the Fort Wayne Mastodons meet Saturday in college basketball action from Gates Sports Center. Robert Morris dropped to 10-20 overall after a loss to Northern Kentucky in their last game. As for Fort Wayne, they beat Wright State on Wednesday to move to 19-11 so far. Let’s get into our Robert Morris vs. Fort Wayne prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
Robert Morris Colonials
The Colonials kicked off the season at a sketchy 5-12 overall. Robert Morris would then hit a 5-3 run with wins over Fort Wayne, Detroit, IUPUI, Detroit again and Milwaukee. It’s been losses to Youngstown State, Wright State, Oakland, Cleveland State and Northern Kentucky since then.
In the Northern Kentucky matchup on Wednesday, Robert Morris came out of the locker room with a 42-23 deficit. The Colonials caught up a bit in the second half with a 37-28 run but still lost 70-60. Josh Corbin led the way in the defeat with 14 points and four rebounds.
Fort Wayne Mastodons
Over on the Fort Wayne side, their year began on a 13-7 stretch. The Mastodons are 6-4 in their last 10 outings, though. The wins in that time were over Northern Kentucky, Youngstown State, IUPUI, Detroit, Green Bay and Wright State. The losses otherwise came to Milwaukee, Cleveland State and Oakland.
Matched up against Wright State in their last game, the Mastodons had a close call. Fort Wayne scored 39 points in the first half, 35 in the second and five in overtime for a 79-77 win. Jalen Jackson carried the team with his 27 points and two rebounds in the victory.
ANDREW’S FREE ROBERT MORRIS VS FORT WAYNE PREDICTION
I’ll stick with Fort Wayne. The Mastodons posted a nice overtime win versus Wright State in their latest outing, but it wasn’t perfect. Fort Wayne shot a tepid 41.1 percent from the field with 16 turnovers in that one. The good news is that the Mastodons got 22 points off 18 Raiders turnovers and powered out the victory. That makes 79 or more points in four straight outings.
Fort Wayne took a 91-88 overtime road loss the last time these teams met back on January 12. The Mastodons gave up 51.7 percent shooting in that one and got out-rebounded 43-28. The key stat was 25 points off 25 Robert Morris turnovers, but the Colonials probably won’t be that sloppy this time. Fort Wayne needs a better effort at home in the rematch, and I think they’ll get it.
