Indiana at Iowa 1/13/22 College Basketball Picks and Predictions

Indiana faces Iowa on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena for a college basketball Big Ten matchup. 

Indiana is coming off a 73-60 win over Minnesota in its last game on January 9th at home. Indiana has now won back-to-back games and four of its last five. Indiana’s last loss came on the road against Penn State on January 2nd. Indiana is now 12-3 overall, 3-2 in Big Ten play, and 10-5 against the spread this season. Indiana’s leading scorer so far this season has been F Trayce Jackson-Davis, who has scored 19.4 points per game and has earned 8.7 rebounds per game for the Hoosiers. G Xavier Johnson leads the team in assists per game with 4.2. Indiana as a team has scored 74.9 points per game and has shot the ball at a 47.8% clip from the field. Indiana has also allowed 60.8 points per game to its opponents as well. 

Iowa is coming off an 87-78 loss to Wisconsin in its last game on January 6th on the road. That loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Hawkeyes, who are now 11-4 overall, 1-3 in Big Ten play, and 9-6 against the spread this season. Iowa’s only conference victory was an 80-75 win over Maryland at home. Iowa’s leading scorer so far this season has been F Keegan Murray, who has scored 24.7 points per game and has earned 7.9 rebounds per game for the Hawkeyes. G Joe Toussaint leads the team in assists per game at 3.9. Iowa as a team has scored 86.7 points per game and has shot the ball at a 48.0% clip from the field. Iowa has also allowed 71.6 points per game to its opponents as well.

Iowa is a 4-point favorite and the total is set at 150. I think this is going to be a very competitive game and I would not be surprised to see this one come down to the final few possessions. Iowa’s offense is tough for any defense to prepare for, but the matchup between Trayce Jackson-Davis and Keegan Murray makes me think this one is too tight to pass up getting four points in. I think Iowa wins by a bucket but I like Indiana to cover.
