Fresno State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs managed a rough 9-11 record over their first 20 games this year and things haven’t gotten better since then. Fresno State is just 2-7 in their last nine games, taking losses to UNLV, Colorado State, UNLV again, Boise State, San Diego State, Utah State and Nevada in that time.
In the Nevada game on Friday, the Bulldogs came out of the break with a 37-24 deficit. Fresno State got better on a 42-37 run from there but still lost 74-66 in the end. Both Isaac Taveras (bench) and Isaiah Hill (five rebounds) notched a team-high 16 points in the defeat.

New Mexico Lobos
Over on the New Mexico side, they got off to a nice 18-3 start through 21 outings. The Lobos are just 3-5 in their last eight games, though. Those losses came versus Boise State (twice), UNLV, San Diego State and Air Force. The wins were over Wyoming, Nevada, and Colorado State.
Matched up against Boise State on Saturday, the Lobos were trailing 35-33 by halftime. New Mexico hit a 54-46 deficit in the second half during a tough road loss 89-79. JT Toppin was tops in scoring with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Jamal Mashburn Jr. added 19 points.
ANDREW’S FREE FRESNO STATE VS NEW MEXICO PREDICTION
I’m going with New Mexico. The Lobos have been highly inconsistent during some tricky games lately, though. In their latest outing versus Boise State, New Mexico had a 43-35 rebounding deficit and shot just 6-of-23 (26.1 percent) from 3-point range. Otherwise it wasn’t a terrible effort despite the 11 turnovers for 14 Broncos points. The Lobos maintained their scoring streak; they’ve now hit 68 or more points in all but one game this year.
As for Fresno State, they’ve been below 67 points in four of the last five games (an 0-5 run). The Bulldogs have given up 73 or more points in each of their last four, so New Mexico should have plenty of room to score in this one. It’s the Lobos’ cover to take if they play well.
