The Canisius Golden Griffins and the Marist Red Foxes meet Friday in college basketball action from McCann Arena. Canisius is 9-14 overall this year following a win over Iona on Saturday. As for Marist, theyr’e 13-9 so far following a win over Rider this past weekend. Let’s get into our Canisius vs. Marist prediction. Canisius Golden Griffins

The Griffins got off to a reasonable 6-4 start this year, but they’ve only been able to win three games since early December against Siena, Manhattan and Iona. Canisius is 2-6 in their last eight outings with losses to Fairfield, Iona, Saint Peter’s, Marist, Quinnipiac and Niagara.

In their Saturday matchup versus Iona, the Griffins stormed out to a 42-23 halftime lead. Canisius had to hang on after a 46-31 deficit from there but still won 73-69 in the end. Leading scorer Siem Uijtendaal posted 25 points with six rebounds in 40 minutes of work.

Marist Red Foxes

Over on the Marist side, they got off to a 7-2 start through nine games but then hit a 3-7 run with losses to Notre Dame, Lehigh, Fairfield, Quinnipiac, Mount St. Mary’s, Niagara and Mount St. Mary’s again. It’s been wins over Saint Peter’s, Siena and Rider since then however.

Matched up against Rider on Saturday, the Red Foxes were up 37-29 in the locker room. Marist kept it going in the second with a 40-33 run and took the victory 77-62. Jackson Price led the team with his 17 points and three rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

ANDREW’S FREE CANISIUS VS MARIST PREDICTION

I’ll stay with Marist. The Foxes managed a pretty decent road win over Rider in their last game despite getting out-rebounded 31-28. Marist hit 45.6 percent from the field and 16-of-17 (94.1 percent) from the line however, as well as bagging 22 points off 14 Broncs turnovers. The 77 points was the Foxes’ highest total since January 28 versus Canisius (80), which was the last time these teams met up.

In that January road win 80-71 over the Griffins, Marist hit a blistering 56.7 percent from the field—but also gave up 50 percent on the other side. It was a sloppy game on both sides with 26 total turnovers, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see another wild game in the rematch. All things considered however, I like the Foxes to power out the cover to keep it rolling.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Marist Red Foxes -5.5
