The St. Joseph’s Hawks and the Richmond Spiders meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Robins Center. St. Joseph’s is 18-11 overall and coming off a win over Fordham. As for Richmond, they’re 22-7 so far following a win over VCU. Let’s get into our St. Joseph’s vs. Richmond prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
St. Joseph’s Hawks
The Hawks went 13-6 over their first 19 games this year, then hit a 3-4 stretch that featured losses to St. Bonaventure, Dayton, Loyola and Duquesne. It’s been a 2-1 run over the last trio, with a pair of wins over George Washington and Fordham around a loss to VCU in that time.
In the Fordham game on Saturday, the Hawks were up by a comfortable 46-29 going into the second half. St. Joseph’s cruised from there on a 40-36 run and took the victory 82-69. Kacper Klaczek was the leading team scorer with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists off the bench.
Richmond Spiders
Over on the Richmond side, they posted a 16-5 run over their first 21 outings. The Spiders would lose two of the next three to VCU and UMass. Since then it’s been a stretch of wins over George Washington, Rhode Island, Davidson, Saint Louis and VCU in the last five.
Matched up against VCU over the weekend, the Spiders came out of the break with a 32-29 edge. Richmond kept the pace from there on a 47-47 run and bagged the win 79-76 in the end. All five starters finished in double-figures, including Jordan King’s 27 points with four rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE ST. JOSEPH’S VS RICHMOND PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward Richmond in this one. The Spiders kept their starters on the floor for most of the VCU game (three bench points) and eventually took the shootout win with 53.1 percent from the field. Richmond made a few mistakes along the way though, including 11 turnovers for 19 Rams points and just nine team assists. Still, the Spiders have scored 79 or more points in four of the five games during this current win streak.
As for the Hawks, they’ve scored a nice 69 or more points in three straight. That’s a good sign after a couple of down games versus Loyola and Duquesne. I like this one to be a fairly high total as well, with Richmond eventually powering out the cover.
