The UTSA Roadrunners and the Temple Owls meet Sunday in college basketball action from Liacouras Center. UTSA sits at 8-17 so far following a loss to Charlotte on Thursday. As for Temple, they’re 8-17 as well and coming off a loss to FAU. Let’s get into our UTSA vs. Temple prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.

UTSA Roadrunners

The Roadrunners managed to win eight of their first 20 games, taking out Western Illinois, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, AR-Fort Smith, Prairie View, Tulane and Rice. It’s been losses to South Florida, Rice, Wichita State, East Carolina and Charlotte since then, though.

In the Charlotte game on Thursday, the Roadrunners faced a two-point deficit going into the second half. UTSA didn’t end up getting closer than that after a 33-26 run and lost 79-70. PJ Carter was the team’s lead scorer on 22 points with three rebounds in 27 minutes.

Temple Owls

Over on the Temple side, they managed an 8-7 run out of the gate this year. The Owls haven’t won since January 7 however, taking losses to East Carolina, North Texas, SMU, Rice, USF, East Carolina again, Tulane, Memphis, Charlotte and Florida Atlantic in that time.

In their last outing versus Florida Atlantic back on Thursday, the Owls were down 45-34 by the break. Temple was able to keep the pace pretty well from there but ended up losing 80-68 in the end. The Owls’ Jordan Riley led the team on 19 points and six boards in the defeat.

ANDREW’S FREE UTSA VS TEMPLE PREDICTION

I’ll try Temple here. You could call this one either way however, and honestly there’s not a lot to get excited about with both teams struggling. The Owls didn’t play horribly against a good FAU team on the road in their last game, shooting 42.1 percent from the field with a 36-33 rebounding deficit. Temple hasn’t been scoring too badly lately with 68 or more points in four straight—but those were all losses.

As for UTSA, they’ve hit 70 or more points in seven of their last eight outings (a 1-7 run) so this one should be a fairly high-total with a pair of permissive defenses. I like Temple a little better at home, but it’s not one I’m going to mess with.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Temple Owls -6
